Is anyone else as irritated as I am with these stupid ass tampon/maxi pad commercials? "I like cotton! I love Always!"

Is anyone really that excited about a *maxi pad*????

Or that one where the girls are giggling, walking arm-in-arm along the beach talking about Midol? WTF???

PMS girl: "I'd kill for a brownie!"
(Everyone giggles)
Other girl: "Tee-hee-hee! Oh, yeah! She's menstrual!"

Yeah, sure. Cause that's what we girls do when we're having our period. We sit around giggling in our cutesy pink clothes, stuffing our faces with brownies talking about cramps and bloating. Riiiiight. What alternate universe are these people from?

Same commercial:

Girl: "You're wearing a bikini...........on your PERIOD!??"

Oh Jesus. Then theres the one where a woman gets her "time of the month" at a restaurant and her friend says "oh, my purse is a pharmacy" as she empties it's contents on the table. But, ohmygosh, she doesn't have any MIDOL!!! Advil is just not enough, now is it? What???? If I were in a pinch, I'd take what I could get, wouldn't you?

Well, I could name a few more of these stupid commercials but I'm sure noone wants to read all that so I'll stop now. I just needed to get that off my chest. Now I think I'll go paint my toenails and inhale some brownies. ::giggles:: :gun:

Giggling? On your PERIOD?! Who speaks of such atrocities?! When I'm on my period, I'm the queen from hell. Whoever giggles has their face eaten off  .

If I were to make a period commercial, it would go something like this:

Girl 1: Hey Mandy, what's wrong? Why are you holding a bloody sword and standing over a dead body?

Girl 2: NOW YOU DIEEEEE *kills*

Narrator: Midol. Clinically proven to kill the inner psycho-bitch within.

Of course, that's just me. ;)

tee hee hee. :fuckoff: When I have my period, watch out man. I am CR-AN-KY!!! My poor bf has never had to witness this phenomenon of me transforming from my usually mild manored self into a raging bitch cuz I was on depo for 9 months and the pill for the last two months. But now that I actually had a period, holy shit, he just hides and plays Halo 2. He's a smart man. ;)

This is comming from a girl with the name "Zoloft" in her name. :confuse:

You do have a good point though. I also hate those Zoloft commercials and other depression commercials.

Those blob commercials are kinda funny...
Getting on topic, I can see what you all mean... I HAAATE those comercials for feminine products! I mean, how many women do you know who would actually want to run around all happy and giggly during their period? As for me, I am a BITCH from hell during my period!! Whoever messes around with me during that time of the month gets mauled!!!!
I did recently see one that was a little bit funny/ridiculous. It went like this- there was a guy and a girl in a boat, and the boat starts to leak (has a hole in the bottom of it). The guy says not to panic, he's dealt with these before. Then, the girl reaches into her purse takes out a tampon, and plugs the hole in the bottom of the boat up with it.
Other than that, I hate those commercials.

The one that takes the cake for me is when that boat is leaking while that couple was out on a date and she just whips out a HUGE economy size tampon box and clogs up the hole and they just go back to the date like that wasn't awkward at all. I laugh everytime I see it.

I have to say the one I'm most disgusted with is the one where they are interviewing random women at the store, asking them if their pad ever gets wet and sticky. Is that really necessary?

My favorite is the one for the compact tampon. It's all wrapped up in this tiny package, and one girl is passing it to another girl, and the (male) teacher sees it and thinks it's candy.

Now, correct me if I'm wrong here - but the marketing ploy is that men won't realize it's a tampon when they see it. However, the commerical shows the product on national televison! What, do they think that men will hear the word "period" and change the channel or run screaming from the room?

Fucking morons.

I don't get periods anymore. I have little pills to fix that. It's quite nice.

But the REASON my doctor told me not to have my period anymore is because I got cramps that made me unable to see straight or even MOVE sometimes. I broke out all over the place, got sick, etc. WAS NOT PRETTY. It was NOT an occasion to giggle or wear cutesy things or even shove brownies in my mouth, because most of the time I was too nauseous to eat. Those commercials piss me off so much.

That is how I felt yesterday. When I was at work I started getting camps from hell and evertime I got up I felt like I was going to be sick so I had to sit back down for a little bit. But hey that is life, if you don't have that then you are just not a real woman...lol.

No, i know some of you don't get all those cramps and stuff so don't take that so serious...it was just a joke.

Thank you, for this entire thread. Honestly, it drives me practically farther insane when I see commercials like that. No one that I have ever met has actually giggled while on their period or have they wanted to talk about it with their friends. The entire deal of these types of commercials is entirely too shady for me.

What also annoys me is those "FEEL THIS! FEEL HOW DRY IT IS EVEN THOUGH I JUST POURED FIVE GALLONS OF LIQUID THAT IS NOT MENSTRUAL BLOOD INTO IT!"
"OH WOW YOU'RE RIGHT IT'S DRY I SHALL PUT THAT BETWEEN MY LEGS FROM NOW ON!"

...ugh.

It has been my findings, through use of the products of course; that no maxi-pad shall ever be dry enough for me, that is of course with the exception of before use.

I usually go into hiding during my period, for fear that I will seriously maim someone/thing.

ERGH! I hate that commercial!

"La ti Da, nevermind that theres a fucking tampon bobbing between us, its still romantic out here!" :gun:
