I wonder if the old universe was eventually sucked into a giant black hole until it reached critical mass and then **BOOM**, exploded like an atom bomb, which is what we think of as the big bang. If thats the case then how did the old universe start? Who made this shit?

Black holes are essentially giant vacuums which are created by the implosion of a star when it becomes to enormous to exist any longer. It is known as a black hole because it blends in with space. It sucks in everything that comes within its edge (which is called an event horizon) from light, to loose space junk like rocks or ice. All black holes are said to have counterpart "white holes" which at the apparent opposites of black holes and they constantly expel material, and are white in appearance. Hope this helps.

All I know about black holes is that anything that goes by a point close enough to it (everything even light and color) goes into a type of an abyss(sp.) and what happens inside is unkown. Also I think that black holes are made from really powerful stars.
