any real psychic knows better then to charge for it.. i.m.o. a real one is more of a self doubter that never really believes they are truely psychic but are always right...

I knew you would say something like that. I saw it in the cards and crystal ball, oh yeah and the fact that I actually READ it gave it away too. Personally, I put about as much weight into psychics abilities as Paris Hilton's S.A.T. scores...not very much at all.

I love the questions they ask people, to get a feel for them and to make them believe that there is a connection being generated. I learned everything I would ever need to be a psychic in Psychology 101. It's just a matter of asking the right questions and making the person spill too much info WITHOUT them realizing it. Then, you can basically tell them ANYTHING you want, and as long as you find a way to tie it in and make it identifiable to them, their mind will convince itself that you are dead on with your "insight".

All I have to say is, I have never ever, not once, seen my newpaper saying "Psychic wins lottey." Until I do I wont belive.

What's funny though, is if you do see something like that, a controversy would follow. Even if it was true and really happened, people would begin with questions like "well should psychics join in with the lottery, or are they banned?!"

Then just to make sure psychics didn't use the lottery, they would have to become "registered psychics" and put signs in front of their house saying so.

Much more shit would happen, but eh. Why post it? :happysad:

That is true alot of shit would happen. But yall know what I meant I wont believe they are out there until one of them shows up on my door and says "So... you've been dissing us on WTF have you? Well you want some prof fine." Then I may believe but till then they are just some made up shit that no one should ever believe, like Paris Hilton's virginity.

Don't get me wrong I do believe in the occasional dejavu (sp?) stuff but thats about it.

Thats what Im saying and not just about Paris Hilton but no one know and every one fears what the dont understand its a proven fact. So until we get some kind of person that can read minds and see the future we cant have them see into a psychics mind and tell us if there real or not.

What about famous historical figures like Nostradamous. I suppose some of that stuff is vague as well, but it's still interesting to read or watch programs on.

I went to Atlanta to a Sylvia Browne lecture and while most psychics are truly full of shit, I prefer to believe there are people out there who are using parts of their brain others aren't.

As for Psychic wins lottery statements, you're just as likely to see that as Mathmatician Wins Lottery in the newspaper. They see/do what they can ( or if you're religious what God gives them), they aren't magical for christsakes.

Nostradomus was more of a Prophet than a psychic.

I went to one a few years ago. It went something like this:

Me: Hello
Psychic: Hi, what's your name?
Me: Shouldn't you know that already?
Psychic: Oh haha, it doesn't work like that.
Me: Why not? aren't you psychic?
Psychic: well yes
Me: So can't you predict the future?
Psychic: yes, but...
Me: So you should know my name, why i'm here, what my reading is going to say and that i'm not going to pay you afterwards.
Psychic: get out, now!!
Me: ok. at least i feel like i got my money's worth. have a nice day.
Me: *leaves*

that's some funny shit there tostig. Never been to a psychic before, been to a psychologist, but never a psychic.

As Jude said, I'm sure there are people who have accessed there nether regions of their brain and have developed an ability for certain items of interest, lol.
How many of them are geniun? Very few. Many I believe, as again it's been said before, are money grabbing pieces of shit.

I've been to a phsyic once. But she was made of plastic and I had to insert 25 cents into her, I forgot what she told me.

I've been to one that came to our college campus years ago. She didn't really call herself a psychic, she called herself a relationship advisor who was psychic. At first, (of course I was skeptical to begin with) she blew our minds. My husband and I went in together (we were just dating then). She quickly got rid of him with a whole series of questions. It was interesting (now that I look back on it with more perspective, I'd say mean). Earlier, when she was taking volunteers for free readings, my husband had asked her if she would see both of us together. She agreed saying she "liked" us.

Ok, so it went like this.

Psychic to hubby: First thing is first, You have got to stop treating this woman like she's your property! (I would assume this was a generalization she made from his asking for me to see her).

Hubby: huh? wha...

Psychic to hubby: Well, she's not. You let her make up her own mind or you're going to lose her! I know it's not your fault you had a rough childhood. You were told what you said didn't matter right?

Hubby (shocked): nods

Psychic to hubby: Your father, right? Beat you?

Hubby (still dazed): no, not beat me, spanking yeah but not abuse.

Psychic: Well, he didn't let you speak your mind, made you keep everything in right?

Hubby (pretty shaken up): yes.

Psychic: It's ok. You need to stop this cycle. You're an adult now and in control of your life. You make your decisions... (yadda yadda, normal psycho-analytical stuff).

Psychic: Ok, I want to talk to her now ok?

Hubby nods.

Psychic pats him on the knee: You're going to be fine now. You're a strong man and very intelligent.

Hubby leaves room.

Psychic to me: Wow, you've really been through it huh?

Me: well... yeah you could say that. (this was about a year after my divorce from my ex - crackhead husband).

Psychic: yeah, I can tell... you have a child don't you? (Ok, I'm not sure how she guessed that but I'll go with it)

Me: yes

Psychic: Her name is...

Me: S-

Psychic: SARA!! (Now, she pulls out a piece of paper with the name "Sara" written about 30 times on it.

Me: YES!

Psychic: I've been trying to pin this name on everyone in here. You must really be worried about her or she's heavy on your mind. (note, I was watching the clock the whole time we were waiting to be seen by her because I had to pick my daughter up and it was cutting close to the time).

Me: Well, yes, I'm worried about how she'll do with the separation and divorce. Her father was a jerk, but he really loves her...

Psychic: No, he doesn't know how to love. Don't keep trying to push this with her. Let him go. Don't try to wait around for him to own up to a parental responsibility.

Me: Well, I'm not saying I was wanting him back, I meant that he keeps trying to shirk visting her and such.

Psychic: I know, that's what I meant.

Me (a bit confused): oh

Psychic: Ok, what's this huge fear of death you have going on?

Me (shocked): Huh??? (shaking my head) I don't have a fear of death.. well, nothing like a obsession or anything.

Psychic: you sure?

Me: well... uh, I suppose I have a normal fear, but I don't dwell on it or anything.

Psychic (ignoring me): Well, don't worry, you and your daughter are going to be around a LONG time hun, but someone is going to have something removed in the next year... an appendix, or tonsils.

Me: Oh, I hope it's me.

Psychic: No, you would say that as a parent, but it's easier for kids to recooperate from these. It's much riskier for adults.

Me: Still....

Psychic: Well, it's going to go fine anyway.

Ok, the rest was polite conversation. But that's how the whole conversation went.

Note, I still have my tonsils and appendix. My daughter has her appendix but her tonsils had to be removed about 3 years after this.

I think the woman was EXTREMELY perceptive of human behavior. She was good at drawing conclusions, but for the most part made broad statements that could indeed be made about most people. Everyone would say their parents didn't let them speak out, and that they are somewhat possessive of their significant others. Many children have their tonsils removed, many adults, their appendix. She had a decent chance of getting this right. Even if it didn't happen to myself or my daughter, someone in my family that is close probably would have, and some people would have given that credit to her anyway.

As far as having my daughter's name written, well, it's a common name, both for older and younger women. It was bound to be claimed by SOMEONE that day, it just so happened to be me.

Anyway, there it was. If it hadn't been free, I wouldn't have done it. She was just an educated woman on human behavior and perceptive, impressingly perceptive, but psychic, I don't think so.

Sorry for the long post. :happysad:

I've been to one. It was cool. She was South American and her husband was Portuguese. She sat there reading cards, which she was ok at, while her husband just hung out staring at this glass urn of water. Every once in a while he'd just say shit. I noticed she was very careful in what she told me. Everything she said came true and is still coming true. I'm describing it a lot hoakier than it was.

I believe in it but I also believe there are a lot of fakes out there.

Which leads to an interesting question:

If you can see into the future, how much can you tell a person about their life without fucking it up for them. There are things that will happen that a person may not be ready to handle right then. It's all very complicated really.

Just so you know, there's an edit button for a reason.

Also, I went to one of those fake physics at a carnival when I was like 9. She said I was gonna live long and propser or something. As far as my beliefs in physics, I think it's just a bit tad full of shit. I don't really see anybody looking into the future for anything, maybe it's over my head, but I believe theres no possible way you can look into the future.
