In the literal sense I think that the matrix isn't real. However, it is interesting to ponder reality. You can't prove that anything is real. Descartes said cogito, ergo sum, or I think, therfore I am. This basically means that the only certainty you can have is that if you think you know you exist. In a sense this does relate to the matrix, but in a less "sci-fi" way. I know that I think, so therefore I am fairly certain I exist, but I can't say what else is real.

Well the idea of it is great but did anyone ever think of home cool that would be becuase if its a program then that means If I just plug my computer in and hack the sytem and change things like oh I dont know GRAVITY :D White_Trash makes gravity 1/2 of our normal idea of it. Then you could fine the code for persons profile and change there size */me makes Tostig less hairy for him and makes Jack cool* lol

People imagine hell as a place of fire and eternal torment. They imagine unending torture. Let's face it. After a few years of endless torture you'd go numb to it. It would become the norm, and after long enough, it would seem ok. No seriously, think about it. If all you ever knew was torture, it would become normal.
Now take this world. Suffering is the norm, BUT, there is also good and happy. Most people have occasional happiness, with many many more bouts with horror and suffering. So you have perspective. You understand what being happy feels like, which makes the suffering even worse.
This is a dog-eat-dog world, many millions suffer and starve every day. Torture, rape, molestation, taxes, murder, war, plague, it's all there baby, 24/7. It's knowing happiness, having moments of bliss, that makes these things even worse. Knowing that it could be so much better, but it's not.
It gets worse by the day, with more and more people, these things become more and more common. Free will baby, and how do people use it? Rape, Torture, Greed, spreading lies and grabbing power.
Not everyone is like that. They are generally powerless to those that are, however. How many countries were founded by peace? How many peaceful people have been mowed down in the pursuit of greed?
So, if you really, really think about it. We ARE in hell. This is it. Don't believe me. Wait until your next bout with horror and suffering. It's coming. It's hell for everyone, some people just choose to be the demons.

JLXC, thatīs interesting. Hell, however is relative, a subjective abstract. I believe that you have had people think we live in hell. It is all just a matter of how you look at it. With good wording and some facts you can turn nonbelievers on to your side. They change their view. In other words, you create their hell. I hope you get this. I donīt think they are too ignorant to not know they live in hell (as you say) they just have a different view on hell and on life. Hell is what you make of it.
Of course hell reflects normal life, where do you think the idea originally came from...? Horrible things make you feel bad, so to say doing horribe things will make you live in a horrible place will prevent this. Thats just like saying dont do bad things, only with an ultimatum.
Well. On to the matrix, there really is a pseudo-religion/philosophy that thinks that world is based on Matrix. That is not too strange when you look at otherphilosophical theories though. Like monism or the like. Like one that says that you are the only thing, you are the universe, when you blink the universe turns off, there is no others than you, everything is just you imagination. This is just a bad philosophy, I mean how do you spread it? But well, why should you? After all there is only you.. You can not raise a group, as all the others would be wrong thinking youre the center of universe...
Okay sidestepped, sorry. Matrix? No? Only a positive chance after a positive chance after a positive chance (use of "positive" can be disputed). We are here for no outside reason, meaning of life is what you make it be.

Yes, the Matrix is real, and there is an agent outside your door just waiting to take you away, and he will call you "Mr. Anderson" in a monotone voice, but you will tell him that your name is "Neo" and throw him into a ceiling. Follow the white rabbit.

The following comes from a story told by Sheherazade:
The world is an inferno, full of darkness and evil. But there are two ways of dealing with it.
The first is easy, and wrong. Accept it and become part of it.
The second way is harder, and right. Fight it and recognize those who are not evil and help them endure.

I love the Matrix personally, and I sometimes think that there might be some other type of world that's looking at us trying to help us. Or something along the lines of this is the matrix and there's another real world. And I sometimes think we are programed. Like not necessarily in a weird, alein way, but like that maybe we all have something inside us that makes us have same opinions, or same personalities. I have thought about that alot, whether it's true or not, I love the movies.
yea, that movie's insane. i like the guy smoking the bong....i want thattt

The way those Matrix movies were designed, I have a hard time believing that those people aren't going nuts left and right. There's just too much crazy shit going on from day to day for people to NOT notice. People randomly changing into Agents in a crowd, Neo taking flight outside a phone booth.. That sort of shit. They were so busy throwing as many bullshit special effects in as possible that they lost track of the whole "the people inside don't know it's the Matrix" idea.
Soooo... if this place WAS the Matrix, we'd sure as fuck know by now.

Well one way of thinking about it is with logic
First, I think some guy had said once "I think there for I am." now if that’s not deep, than shit.
Now, if you think there for you must be real that means one of two things.
1) There is not matrix and human imagination is awesome.
2) There is a matrix and we live in some other world.
Ok number 1 is easy to think of nothing changes in our little world. But if 2 is true than do you really wanna know? Cuz if they control your entire world than they must have some kind of control on you. Maybe that’s why people jump off of buildings they learned too much and the matrix took over their body.
Or my personal favorite. If the matrix has the technology to perfectly recreate AI. Do you really wanna fuck with something that powerful? Think about it, how much power does the world have now and we haven’t even dip into AI yet. So something that does have a beautiful system with perfect AI that means they could like just push Ctrl Alt Delete and poof were all dead... EVERY ONE.:confused:
Edit: damn I forgot the smilys

There was a TV show on not too long ago. The studio audience was asked to watch a film clip of a basketball game and count how many times the ball was passed. During the game, a very big guy in a gorilla suit walked across the court several times. After the clip was over, the interviewer asked about the ball passing, and then asked if the audience had noticed anything unusual. Only about 1/5 of the audience mentioned the gorilla.
