I'm not sure whether this thread belongs here but might as well put it here.

I think that deja vu is just when you think you recognize something as of a previous date it's actually just something your brain does. Sort of like hallucinating. Anyone else have any thoughts on it?

so your saying you think you recognize it? not that you actually DO recognize it?

i use to have deja vu all the time. i once had this dream that i went to a white house with a broken back door and a forest in the background. in my dream there were faeries and things in the forest in the backyard. 2/3 months later my dad took me to the house in my dream. of course i didnt see any faeries but you know

When i was young i used to get deja vu a bit but i did not know what deja vu was and I though it only happened to me. So I though I had a "six sence". I would spend hours meditating trying to harnest my ability to predict the future and stop accidents befor they happen becuase with great power comes great responsibility. Of course now i know im just a total retard.

I get deja vu all the time.I'm not really sure what it is though, but it just seems like I've done something before, or seen the same thing before. Not like seeing the same house because you drive by it everyday, it's more like I've done the exact same thing before. It's really hard to explain.

Ok I've read into this abit on howstuffworks.com.

First deja vu is hard to really understand but I will try to make it easy. Now imagine 2 BARE wires going from your eyes. (since thats how you see) One of them to what your seeing now and the other to a part of your mind that turns short term into long term. Well the when the "wires" cross you see whats going on AND its in your long term. So really deja vu is your brain fucking up. Understand?

Now the reason I looked this up is because if anyone here is kinda like me in this since you'll uderstand what I mean. Deja vu I have explained, BUT I think there is another side to deja vu. Call me crazy but once in a great while during a deja vu of me trying to figure something out, I have (occasionally) use my deja vu to solve what problem I was having. Now thats not deja vu cuz your mind would have to see it before it could get the answer. So I figured it was my subconscious that had solved the prob and my imagination made it seem like a deja vu. Until I started to use my "deja vu" to find stuff. Ex: once I lost my cell phone so I sat and thought where it could be. I got a deja vu of me and what I was doing so I "fast forwarded" it, and seen me reach straight down and then I stuck my hand in a pipe and reach straight for my phone. I never even seen it, and there it was right in the pipe like I had seen.

Any one care to explain that one?

I love the website howstuffworks.com
I go there for schoolwork all the time.

I've been told numerous times Deja Vu is something that happens because your brain is thought to experience the same thing before, and it has had an occurance like that very much, but your memory can't recognize it completly, or you don't remember having that memory, and that's when the Deja Vu comes in. I believe it, yet I think it's what you said you think it is, because when Deja Vu happens some place you've never been, how can you have some sort of a memory from it?

White_trash. would it be possible that you subconsciously "knew" that you had left/lost your phone in the pipe. You just did not remember it. So that this "deja vuing" of yours is really just a way to think about your memories in a different way, thus finding already forgotten minor details. So when you started thinking about where would you dejavu-find it, your mind gave you the place where you lost it added with the action you asked for. Picking it up.

Now this would make sense. If someone else left your phone there and you found it by dejavuing, then thats just weird.. Because you saw before what you did after the dejavuing. So it happened because of this, it would not have happened if you had not seen it. So. It makes no sense. Of course it is possible that you found it and thought about finding it before, and then your brain just created these causal connections, because you nwnated them to be created

Ok yall wanna know about the phone in the pipe I gave it to my little girl to play with (it has one of them key locks that are on non flip phones and she just pushes butons) and stoped to talk to a friend. I go and look down and she dont have it so I ask her and she says she lost it, and she never said were. I look around for it and I got a "deja vu" thing and seen in in one of them sewars that are on a curb. (It has a small landing on it about a foot or so down) Well while looking I like seen myself reaching down there and pulling it out so I did and there it was.

Besides I've done it before with other things that I have no idea where they are, and didnt touch it last, and I still find it excatally where my "deja vu" said it was.

Like junglizm, How stuff works, and I have said put simple deja vu is when you mind messes up and see the everything as the past AND as the present thats all it is but what would you call mine then?
