Remember this game? Launched back in '99...My friend just gave me his old copy. I had Freespace 1 for years, but this one just blows me away. The voice acting is amazing (I once was startled so bad I nearly pissed myself), the plot is spectacular, and the gameplay is just plain frantic and fun. The weapons are also EXTREMELY cool. I really like the TAG-B missle, which allows a cruiser to shoot with flak cannons, beam cannons, etc. at whatever the missle hit. The ships are also much more balanced than the original, but I really miss the old Valkyrie interceptor...The new Perseus interceptor is good, and much more durable, but it ain't as fast.

For those of you who have not played Freespace, it is a realistic space combat simulator that takes a couple of days to get a good handle on. It's nothing like StarFox, because it features realistic physics, advanced ship controls, weapon and energy management, and extremely elaborate wingman commanding. It also is more mission based, with objectives such as search and rescue, prototype testing, covert ops, recon, escorting, scrambling, search and destroy, etc. It is an amazing series, be sure to buy both if you want the full effect!

What the fuck?!

I am so fucking pissed right now. This game has the most abrupt ending I have ever seen. The Shivans blow up a star, creating a supernova while you are escorting some ships out of the Capella system. Guess what fucking happens after you evacuate? You see a cutscene where the Shivan Juggernaut ships descend on our solar system, and then it ends. There is another cutscene after that too, but fuck, it crashes when I try to play it.

It's still a great game, it just has the worst ending I have ever seen, BY FAR. I never played Halo 2's, but I doubt that it can be as bad as this.

I'm currently playing a user made mod called Inferno. I think it's pretty good, but I have played better mods.

You are kidding, right? Sonic 2 is still hella fun today, and is one of my all time favorite games. The same goes for Duke Nukem 3D, Doom, and Descent. If we all just threw ideas from older games out, today's games would be the same shit we were playing back in the 70's, except with pretty graphics.
