I really hate people who don't know how to write poetry and yet still call themselves a poet. I mean i may not be the best but at least my poems have some style and structure to them. What the hell is with these 5 mins poems with simple words and basically poor flow... at least read a poem once in your fucking life, before you try to write one...

Life's a bitch
then you die
so fuck the world
let's all get high

Fuck it... post your shit... here a new one of mine!

~~~~untitled~~~~~~~
Immoral thoughts formed in the night
of wicked words and fears unleashed
for a love still felt, but ever fleeting from the light.
Now this to ponder on
with cherry scares from a dull blade
And horrors reveled in summers dawn.
One slice, just profound enough,
maybe even another
from an idle hand not to tough.
Thus how one does spiral so young
into a meaningless indulgent
Of life with a viral tongue.
“Inspire me“, now the lips do murmur
searching for but one more reason to forget
this deed on oneself of deeper murder.
Only the wind does now plea
in this early morn
With a soft reminder of an existence still free.
When writing on here I guess you are subjecting yourself to good/bad critisism. So what comes next is not a personal attack. Kitana, I gotta say, your writing is slathered in unexcusably bad prose. Many of the stories I have read of yours are thick with imagery and metaphors that hide the exposition and the meaning behind you words. Your stories and poems are deep in concept, but do not flow very well themselves. Poetry can be as simple as a quote from a random person or as complex as a Hemmingway book. I guess you can define poetry in your own mind but, remember, it is not a fact, it is an opinion.
I sometimes do poetry but I ironically hate structured form with a passion. Since most of my poetry tends to be flow-of-thoughts more than anything else, it will inevitably have a weird rythm to it and pretty much little to no structure or rhymes. o_O;
Yeah I have to agree with you alot of my writting is like that... its not ment to be set up in a prose....
Many of the stories I have read of yours are thick with imagery and metaphors that hide the exposition and the meaning behind you words.
Nah. My meaning is normaly pretty simple its that I want you to feel, taste touch and hear every part of it. Sometimes though they get over flowery and thats when i take the weed eater to them.
Your stories and poems are deep in concept, but do not flow very well themselves.
I am pretty hard on myself when I judge my own writting but i do have to say that above anything else my poems and story have a great flow. Publisheres who have been much harsher then you my dear. that was the one thing good they had to say. More people like my writting style then hate it. Is everything i write good... nay... i wrote a lot of shit in my day and still do.
[QUOTE=PachydermPoetry can be as simple as a quote from a random person or as complex as a Hemmingway book. I guess you can define poetry in your own mind but, remember, it is not a fact, it is an opinion.[/QUOTE]
Poetry can not be define in any way shape or forum. Poetry is the feeling of the writer that gets delievered to you the reader. Its that emotion thats inside of you....its what brings you to tears, makes you smile or just remember your still human and alive. I chose to write in a complex way of imagery cause a lot of times when I read a book I miss that. I want to know the exact way tree looks... those little details that i feel.
if you like more simple, less flowery stories or a mix of both or just plain out don't like my writting, awesome. I write for myself but your the type of person I try to improve my writting for.
I am reading The World According to Garp by John Irving. I am not very far along but it is a really good book, and books are usually where I get my writing technique (when I do choose to write). Anyay, I have found a quote (my new favorite quote) I find it really interesting and very similar to my own beliefs about the world and man.
" 'In the life of a man,' Marcus Aurelius wrote, 'his time is but a moment, his being an incessant flux, his sense a dim rushlight, his body a prey of worms, his soul an unquiet eddy, his fortune dark, his fame doubtful. In short, all that is body is as coursing waters, all that is of the soul as dreams and vapors.' "
It doesn't have anything to do with your writing, but I find it really inspiring and thoughtful.
