View Full Version : The Art of Death

It struck me as somewhat funny that everyone was all "awesome!" over a deer getting struck by a car. Somewhat sad that the attitude was tempered by a long debate over the sanity of the poster. None the less, I would like to post death that is art, Witkin having positioned, arranged, and altered the "subjects" of his photographs extensively.

I really enjoy this image because if you think about it, the holes in her flesh are about where angel's wings would be. And she has on that girdle. So its like the trimuph of vanity over beauty lol.

Beautiful
Does he pick random corpses or do the 'models' give consent before they pass?

It's definately "interesting" to look at. Although the artist is obviously talented at his "art", it's not the kind of thing I'd hang on my walls. I might even say it's a bit macabre for my tastes.

It's all very interesting, however I'm not sure how someone could make this sort of art and not be classified as mentally unstable by society. I think any artist would be promptly whisked away to the asylum after their first art show. Perhaps this is what morticians do in their spare time.
I like it and yet I'm afraid to say I like it.

I think it's beautiful. There is an art book with death scenes. I forget the name of it. It's also beautiful and tragic.

Pretty photographs, and those who laugh at a deer being struck by a car must think that death is funny then.

Right, because a deer and a person are the exact same thing.
These pictures don't horrify me, nor do they prove particularly interesting.

How the fuck can anyone enjoy death? I can't grasp it.
Death is not an enjoyable thing, you stupid shits. Even if it is an animal. Animals are actual creatures like us. Them dying should not be a form of entertainment in any way shape or form and neither should humans.
Most of you disgust me.
Edit: This mostly aimed at the guy saying that he enjoys death and the guy that gave the deer comment.

I find it very interesting. I like to see how people invision death, mainly because it is one thing everyone will experience. There is something beautiful about death because of the underlying serinity in it. It is the end. Everyone wonders about, so I don't think expressing your thoughts on the subject through art is certifiable by any means.
If someone "enjoys" death, all that means is they like seeing things die......that is certifiable.
