And now ... being that this is the closest thing you've made to a Welcome Wagon thread ... STFU, FOAD, GTFO.

Football.

Basketball is, for lack of a better word, lame.

Football. I enjoy watching brute pummel brute in slushy mud (except all the pussies who had domes built).

If you can watch more than five minutes of a basketball game, you're an asshole.

People have been telling me I'm an asshole for years. I finally know why. :happysad:

Here I thought it was money problems, a mostly-nagging girlfriend and a retarded boss making me an asshole. It was basketball all along.

/cancels remaining season of NBA League Pass.

I feel much better. :)

football, but i like hockey and lacrosse better, both are extremely fast and require a more physically fit person to play.

football i enjoy because every game matters and the pats are dominant, basketball players are sissys who cry if they get hit on the arm during a shot

that statement is as ridiculous as me saying this: football players are brainless brutes who lose IQ every time they smack heads with one another.

why? because both statements take the most elementary understanding of a sport and criticizes it.

rub1out: way to sell yourself out to Jack... of all people. what sanitary person would want that STD stick of his? ;)

I prefer Basketball. Perhaps because I can play it, I was on my highschool team and I had a lot of fun. I remember when I used to watched the NBA playoffs (stupid France they won't buy the rights so I've been out of it for a while), it's was really great and I loved it.
But I don't now what it's worth now....

With both my previous posts, I was joking. Basketball is my fav. Like Kiwi, I played it in high school and tried (but failed) to be a walk on in college. I watch it whenever possible: NBA, NCAA, playoffs, March Madness, FIBA, Olympics, etc.

Jack hasn't tainted my view. Or touched me with his "stick." I won't let him without getting tested first. :D

yeah I knew you were just joking.. was just having some fun myself. I mean, I may post about various penile stunts but I'm not that dim sheesh.

Basketball is horrible. I'm sorry, but when you get paid million and millions of dollars to play the sport you should be able to make shots. Seams like a run and dunk fest. The players are very athletic, but there isn't much skill in the game in my opinion.

As for football, I think it requires a little more skill, not necessarily of the players though, but overall it moves too slow and much too much emphasis on rules lawyering.

If I absolutely had to choose, I'd probably choose football. I'm not that into sports, but I enjoy hockey and soccer.

If I had to pick, it would be football. Basketball is for a bunch of pussies. Lacrosse, FTW!

As for football, I think it requires a little more skill,

If you truly believe this, you have a misunderstanding of basketball. There is far more fine motor skill involved on a whole because EVERYBODY handles the ball, and EVERYBODY plays defense. Although shots are around 45% for a good shooter, those are under coverage by defenders just as skilled as they are. Also, unlike football where the receiver can move to the ball, the hoop is stationary and so it has to be PERFECT rather than the small margin allowed to a football QB and receiver.

Football, on the other hand, is much more athletic only because the only skill you really need, as the majority of players, is running fast and pushing/tackling people. Running is the main thing, although certain exceptionally skilled people can dominate games. Of course, QBs and special teams don't apply to this analysis.

I just can't get into the basketball thing it doesn't suit me.

idk what you people mean by it takes more skill to b gud at football

for a start football is just run, tackle, yay touchdown, woo, hoorey

basketball on teh other hand: its a fast moving game and its much more athletic then football (two angry goats banging horns)... in the world less then 1% of people can dunk a basketball... some people in b ball can frikkin jump over 50 inches... im sorry, you just dont get that in fotoball

when you go up for that big dunk or blocked shot and the crowd goes crazy, nothing better

football: he runs, dodges, yay touchdown *sigh*

anyhows this is just my oppinion... keep posting guys

Basketball.

Because American 'Football' is just a pussys game in comparison with the brutality of rugby.

99% of a basketball game goes like this in my opinion:
Team A gets the ball
1) break away + layup or slam dunk
2) dude was too slow, pass for 20 seconds, then layup or slam dunk or missed shot
Team B gets the ball
1) break away + layup or slam dunk
2) dude was too slow, pass for 20 seconds, then layup or slam dunk or missed shot

Football...or 'soccer' as it's better known in the States. I've never really sat and watched a game of American Football, but I'm not a big fan of rugby so it's probably not for me, although I will give it a go at some point. As for basketball, I have tried, but it bores me shitless.
