Things to see & do in Perth, Australia?

A friend from university, who now lives in Perth, Western Australia, recently sent me a text saying "i've just bought a house here so feel free to visit whenever you like", so after making sure she wasn't joking, I bought myself some 'cheap' flights to Oz in October. I'm so excited! So I'll be staying at her house for three weeks.

So what is there to do and see in Perth and surrounding area? My aim of the trip is to experience and see as much as possible and have fun. I'm quite big into rock climbing so I'm definitely going to make myself a date with the outdoor climbing centres.

Only things I know about Australia is they have that strange mountain in the middle of nowhere, they have poisonous snakes, they made radar detectors illegal, and its hot.
