So I'm going to Europe on July 17th. I know we have some Europeans on wtf and I'm sure we have some travelers, so I am looking for your help. I have all of my hotels booked and I know a few places to visit but I would love some input from people who have actually been there.
So here is my itinerary:
Zurich, Switzerland for the weekend.
Innsbruck, Austria 4 days
Venice, Itlay 2 days
Rome, Italy (I pretty much have this one planned out)
Bern, Switzerland 3 days
Munich, Germany 1 day
I'm a big nature freak so any cool hiking trails, hand gliding, cable cars and such that I should check out let me know. Also some neat little bars would be an appreciated suggestion.
I'm so excited, it's insane.
WOW! Congrats, sounds like a blast! Though how one could miss Amsterdam, well, that's just silly. :happysad:

I live about an hours drive north of Venice. Its a neat town, but pretty busy. If your looking to hike while your in Italy, Piancavallo (http://www.piancavallo.net/english/index.asp)is pretty scenic:

Its a good hours drive north from Venice, but well worth it. Be careful though, I lost a friend last year when he fell from a ledge.
Also, bring proof of medical insurance. I had surgery on my spine a few weeks ago and although insurance was never an issue (military), not having proof of it would have sucked big time. If you have an international drivers license, bring that too!

Yeah no Amsterdam....next trip for sure though! We have to go to Austria because my bf is taking a class there so we figured we would stick to the surrounding countries. Once the exchange rate gets a little better ($1.65 to the Euro eek!) we will head over again.
Nice pics Kapitan. We aren't going to be renting a car though, does the rail go there?

If there is a tourist information center in those towns (there probably are), make sure to go ask them about hiking/walking trails. They are quite handy.

Switzerland was badass when we visited. We were at Lucerne though, which appears to be to southwest of Zurich.
We were also in Munich at the end of our vacation. München = Biergärten... check them out. The Olympic Stadiums rule. We visited the resturant in the Lowenbrau brewery. http://www.satellite-sightseer.com/id/12895

Are you staying at the Hilton in Rome? It's an awesome hotel. Definitely take a day just walking around the city.

Biergarden has been added to my list...thanks Brion!
We're not staying at any name brand place in Rome...can't recall the name right now. We're going the cheap route. One of our friends used to live in Rome so she drew out a walking tour map for us..avoiding that not so great things and such.
