Yep...people are getting really close to figuring out how to get your CVS brand disposable digital camera working on your own Windows/Linux/Mac box.

Think of this: If this works right, you can get a fully usable digicam with a preview LCD for $20. Also, they are working on creating a more powerful backend, as well as enabling you to store more than 25 images.

I heard that it was a 2 megapixel camera, but I could be wrong...

Well, so far about 50%, but that's only my guess. The last step I can see is getting the drivers to work, then the optional firmware hacks which include increased photo capacity and a more powerful GUI.
