This is NOTHING like the MuffDiver I know...
Hey, what gives? Can we do some IP cross-checking with the IP he used when he registered, and the IP that is being used right now?
He used proper grammer in B&T and such...But I'm loopy off Abilify, so I may be wrong.

You of all people should know about dynamic vs. static IPs. I seriously doubt he has the latter on a residential account, especially if it's dial up.
I guess you could mean net block though.

Yes, I do know about static and dynamic IP's. I just haven't heard of many providers that still support dyamic IP addressing. Mine does, but it's on your command. Unplug the modem for 12 hours, and they will assign you a new IP.
Didn't it somewhat die out? I don't really know of anyone/heard of anyone who has it.

almost everyone on residential service has a dynamic IP (DHCP) (http://www.dhcp-handbook.com/dhcp_faq.html). Many of us hang on to our IP's for quite some time because they automatically renew the "lease" (http://www.dhcp-handbook.com/dhcp_faq.html#wiadl).
The reason why you got another IP after you left your modem unplugged, is because they must have had a lease time less than 12 hours. Your lease expired, and some other customer was dynamically assigned that address.

Ahhh, I see Max. You're a smart one.
I always thought most residential was static!
