I’m usually into the muscle cars; like the late 60's Camaros, and early 70's Mustangs.

Make sure to get custom parts or its just going to lose its value.

Yeah, put custom parts on a classic. Sure, that'll help it holds it value more. A stock classic car will almost always outsell the same car that's been even moderately customized.

My favorite car is/was my 1990 Ford Crown Victoria.
I had it real clean and painted dark purple. It looked like a 'pimp' undercover police car from the 70's.
I was driving with my dad once when I had a blackout (I would later find through test at doctors offices that I have several small seizures throughout the day that cause me to 'black out' and 'come too', mostly within seconds.) and ran into the back of a truck. Which in turn ran into the back of a car.
My car was totalled. And now 3 cars later I'm driving a dodge spirit. I miss my crown vic' :frown:

But since his Shelby is already in a "million" pieces I doubt he'll ever get all the classic parts.

My favorite car was the Dodge Challenger my dad had. It was jet black with pistol grip shifter and a 350 in it, I think. But, for some reason only know to his dumb ass, he traded it and it wound up wrapped around a tree. Damn that was a fast car.

No, but I did get to drag race between red lights from time to time. Sometimes he would put a $100 bill on the dash and use a piece of gum or tape to hold it down. Whoever could grab it before he reached fourth gear could have it. Nobody ever got the bill. I plan on building another one once I save up enough money, except this one will have a 426 or something that size.

the maxima is called the tank for one main reason, it is impervious to almost anything. seriously, me and elcrotcho were in his car one time on the 4th of July and asiaman697 decided it would be a great idea if he flipped this random guy off. the guy fucking decided to rear end elcrotcho's car. we pulled over and checked it out. the only thing that was damaged was the plate, which was bent at a 45 deg. angle. that's it, and the fucker drove off. douchebag. later on, a few months later elcrotcho pwn3d a tree, err...the tree pwn3d him

My dad was in the market for a project car, around '87-'89. We came across a '69 Judge with a 455 for $500. The car was complete and running, but needed some work. The car was driveable as is though, but my dad decided he didn't want to deal with another project.

Indeed, that sucks the big one.
My old man bought the shell, of a 69-70 Nova, and it excited the shit out of me. I was ready to rebuild an engine, etc for a muscle car. We had finished putting a lift on a Blazer, with new tires, new engine, etc. Figured we needed a wicked car as well.(something I might inherit when older *wink wink*) But the management of the place we were staying at was bitching about some bullshit, about how it was too far from the curb, and she had it towed.
My dad never got it out of impound, and we lost it. It was a depressing thing.
But, keep your eyes out, there are/will be plenty more opportunities.

Sorry to hear about your loss. ( like a family member passed or or something lol)
But around here, everybodies eyes have spotted everything to be had. I remember when cars where littering everybodies yards. Now, nothing. The ones that are still around you get, "I'm going to restore it". Yeah, ok, you've been saying that for 20 years now and the car has become one with the ground.
But I agree, they are out there. Just not visable anymore.

wanna know why i love them? the hubcaps are the same colour as the body of the car. they are awesome because even to this day they still retain a lot of their original value. for instance, a 1980 volvo will cost you about $800, but a 1980 mercedes will cost $8000

I prefer newer cars that I can never have. My dream is a 2005 Ford GT. Midnight blue. With a turbocharger, modified intake and exhaust, a lighter flywheel to decrease shifting times, serious weight reduction, a sequential shifter with a double wet clutch, and anything else I can think of to put on it. Then I would modify the gear ratios to get the most horsepower out of it, modify the suspension so that I can hug curves, and put the best brakes I could find on it so that it would go from 100-0 as fast as it would go from 0-100.

when i read the first line, i agreed. a brand new ford gt is about the best supercar money can buy. in fact, it -is- the best supercar money can buy. but let me tell you, you're not putting a turbocharger on an already supercharged car like a ford gt. it doesn't have the space for a double wet clutch, and it doesn't need one at 500hp/tq stock. it already goes and stops equally well, just like the old shelby cobras did, and any modifications you make to the suspension will also make it worse. you are not a better auto builder than a team of expensive engineers. you also don't know as much about cars (trust me; i'm not saying i do either), if you want to turbocharge a large V8 that's built for the supercharger it comes with. and it's a verifiable fact that a ford gt will eat a saleen s7 alive, stock.
to the person talking about ruining a 1968 gt350 by putting anything other than new-old-stock or OEM parts on it, you need to learn about cars.
personally, i'd love a ford gt. in twilight turquoise blue. as for now, i'll stick with what i've got:
http://cars.fruzzetti.org/gallery/categories/Classic_K_Mustangs/Morelos/media/taisan.jpg
but since the convertible is an A code and not a K code and it's SO far from stock, it's not worth so much as my K car, which is bone stock:

weird. people are all over the map on the gt. i just googled "ford gt 0-60" without the quotes and got anywhere from 3.2 to 3.9 in different tests.
i would also, though, bet that the s7 is tweaked pretty much as far as it can go, out of the box, and that the gt is not. it's a hunch, not anything i know for sure, though.

I couldn't imagine going 0-150 in 12.1 seconds, OMFG that would be fun. I'm pretty sure it's tweeked to the max as well, it is a Saleen after all.

my red mustang does 0-160 in 13.9; it's pretty close. a lot of fun, but pretty much useless in real life :P
