Now, I want to point out a few things about the book in general. Bella is obviously not a strong character at all. A trend that I noticed is that she's constantly being cared for by guys. At the beginning of the day she's cared for by her father (example: putting snow tires on her truck, buying her the truck in the first place), then she's handed off to Edward during the school day. When Edward's not around during the school day, some other male will walk her to class. Edward is always saving her, in one way or another.
Additionally, the book reads almost too easily for me. I've read The Divine Comedy in both English and Italian in the
hendecasyllabic form that it's supposed to be read in. I'm used to more provoking reads, and to me, this was not one. In addition, this messes with the view of vampires that I enjoy reading about or watching. The themes also ring very familiar to me from two other book series: One by
Charlaine Harris, and the other by
L. J. Smith.
Pretty much everything that you read here is the entire first book. That is the plot, minus all the excessive ogling throughout the book that I found pretty disgusting and pretty lame. I just saved you the pain of reading through that crap.
