The only reason to own a PS3 is coming to the Xbox

The rep is quoted as saying, regarding MGS4, "We're actively looking into a release for the Xbox 360." While this isn't a confirmation of it coming, it does lend hope to those Xbox 360 owners who haven't plunked down money on a PS3.
However, this little quote doesn't clear the major hurdle Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has listed for the title coming to Xbox 360. He has been quoted in several interviews saying a port was likely impossible due to the game being optimized for the PS3 hardware, specifically Blu-ray discs.
IGN has contacted Konami's US representatives for a comment and is awaiting a response. The original Morningstar report can be found here.

One less reason for me to go out and buy a PS3.

True, but I purchased my Xbox just a few months ago. Supposedly, Microsoft has fixed the bug and are having no issues with the 2008 models.

Try flipping it over and hitting its weak point for massive damage.

Funny... MGS4 was actually my sole motivation for dropping roughly 400 big ones on a shiny new PS3. Quite a hefty chunk outta my graduation money, but what can I say? I love the series, and I had to know how it ended.
Now I see 360s advertised on the tube for a paltry $199. Talk about a royal fuckaround. Had I held out for a month or so, I could have finally scored a next-gen console at a considerable bargain, and if I'd waited just a bit longer, still could have played MGS4.
Sucks how they still want you to pay for online play.

Well its about damn time! Every single person I know who owns a 360 has had the thing crap out on them at one point or another, and not just with the RROD. A friend of mine had some major overheating issues with his console; He kept it on a shelf in his entertainment center with a glass door, meant to house DVD players and shit. After playing for an hour or so and opening the glass door, we'd get hit with a wave of heat akin to a goddamn blast furnace. I swear we could have baked muffins in there.
I've heard good things about their latest models, though.

Every person I've known that owns an Xbox, myself included, has had them fail repeatedly. Even the "new fixed" ones. Conversely, I don't know nor have I heard of a single person with a failing PS3 (although I'm sure they exist). Just something to consider.
Anyway, the PS3 is worth it for more reasons that games imo. Provided you own a TV from this decade, it's actually the cheapest and best way to get a BluRay player. Cheaper players are starting to pop up, but none of them have the power of the PS3. Imo it's also superior to the 360 where media streaming is concerned.

Besides the reasons jung mentioned, if you look strictly at the games, aside from MGS4 there is Gran Turismo 5. Gran Turismo 4 is, to this day, the best racing simulation ever made. The physics are so accurate you could learn to drive just by playing the game (I'm almost serious). The fifth is supposed to be insanely retarded.
Other than that, if you're a fan of RPG's, PS3 is clearly the best option. Also, the PS3 is more powerful graphically.
If I wanted to buy a console, I would get the PS3.

I've never had a problem with my PS3 and I initially bought it for the BluRay. The only problem I have is that I bought a 720 instead of saving and getting a 1080 HDTV. I guess I'll just wait some more and get a laser tv...

I just got a 32" HD TV. I plan on getting a PS3, for nothing more than a prettier version of RE5. BluRay is cool and all, but really, I'm nearly as happy with just plain old DVD's.
My leisure time, as far as "entertainment" goes, revolves around gaming, and especially multiplayer gaming. So, it was for that reason that I chose to get a 360 before a PS3.
Media streaming, eh, that's what my PC is for.
I'll be getting a PS3 in February, I think.

MGS4 on 360? That'll be awesome.
Also I think I may have gotten a defective 360 since mine hasn't died out on me yet and I got it very close to launch

How they're going to cram a game that fills a Blu-ray disc onto a regular dual layer DVD is going to be a lesson in fucktardedness.
I own both a 360 and a PS3 and I prefer the PS3 games and playback over the 360. The fact that I can pop in a larger drive in my PS3 without having to resort to piracy and hacks is also a plus in my mind. That's one of the few non-proprietary things Sony has allowed, but it puts the PS3 on firm ground ahead of the 360. Of course, that's considering that an optical format that allows for more game data on a single disc; a larger, faster processor; integrated bluetooth; and Wi-Fi capabilities aren't better in the first place...

All moot points to me, when you point out the PS3's meager game selection.
