At a White House press conference, the president expressed his confidence that the Transformers would succeed where the Iraq government had failed.

"I'd like to see what would happen if al-Qaida tried to attack one of our tanks, and instead the tank got up on its legs and turned out to be a robot and started shooting at them," Mr. Bush said. "That would be so cool."

But even as the president announced his new plan for victory in Iraq, congressional critics questioned the wisdom of dispatching Transformers to the war-torn nation.

You can ride with optimus prime, he's a pussy anyways. I plan on getting a head jack in place so I can ride with and directly communicate with starscream, once I convince Megatron that only through me can they rule you stupid mortals.

Well I guess the real discussion would be, does anyone here think this could ever be a reality? And furthermore, if it was a possibility... should we operate them with pilots/drivers, or should they be autonomous? I for one think that if we had them running on there own that I could envision a complete Terminator type scenario.

It is possible to build a transforming tank the problem will be the weight on the legs and the mechanism that transforms the tank into a robot. In TV, they do not address the fact that the numerous motors and pistons needed to transform a tank into a robot will probable take up more space then the tank itself. the second problems is weight on the legs that is if we say that using some metal that will not break the thing is able to stand and the legs not break under the weight of the tank above them you will have a stability issue when moving and that much weight concentrated on such a small surface means that the robot will sink into the ground due to weight distribution problems.
